Serial Web Utility 3com Switches
I'm trying to set up a 3com SuperStack 3 24 port switch (3300 series). I would like to set up the web interface. From reading the manual I gather I need 2 things to do this. 1) A compatible '9 pin d type connector' 2) I must be running 'serial line interface protocol (slip)' using the included 'serial web utility'. It appears that the common answer is to just IP to the switch. If I don't know the IP address on the switch, how do I do it? How do I assign an IP address to it without accessing it? Drivers Laser Mfd 60501. The reason I was looking for the 3COM tool was to be able to access and assign an IP address to the switch.
Maybe a little more info will help. This switch was previously managed at a different account. They were retired and set on a shelf for a couple of years. It may have previously been assigned an IP address that we have no way to recover. Specifically, how will I access the switch.
It is currently attached via null modem cable to my laptop. I have used the update utility to flash the switch. Now I would like to assign an IP address. Well looks like 3com has to make it hard on everyone, here is the procedure. I read the exact same thing on 3Com's site. What does this have to do with Password Recovery?:>( I have already used the Software Update Utility and flashed the firmware.
